One In Four U.S. Homes Ditch Landlines

"Nearly 25 percent of all U.S. households have eliminated landlines in favor of mobile phones. As well, more than 48 percent of households with adults aged 25 to 29 were wireless-only (according to one study)."

What does the future bode as to wired telephone service? The telephone is no longer linked to residential locations. People carry their telephones with them. A friend has had no landline service for years. That appears to be working very well.

VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) services are an option to replace standard landline. MagicJack has done very well with its marketing model. It is the least expensive of this type of service.
